Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information DivineBond collects, how we use it, and the choices you have — in plain language.

1. Who We Are

DivineBond (“DivineBond,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a matchmaking and matrimonial platform that helps individuals — and, in some cases, family members acting on their behalf — find compatible life partners. This Privacy Policy applies to our website, mobile experience, and related services (together, the “Service”).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, country, date of birth, gender, and password (for accounts created without Google Sign-In).
  • Identity verification (KYC) information: the National Identity Card (NIC) number and related documents you submit to verify that you are who you say you are. We collect this to keep the platform free of fake and duplicate profiles.
  • Profile and matching information: photos, biography, lifestyle, religion, education, occupation, family background, and partner preferences you choose to share to help us find compatible matches for you.
  • Communications: messages you send through our in-app chat with other members, and correspondence you send to our support team.
  • Payment information: subscription plan, billing cycle, and transaction records. Card and payment details themselves are collected and processed directly by our third-party payment processor — we do not store your full card number on our servers.
  • Usage and device data: log data, device type, browser, approximate location (derived from IP address), and how you interact with the Service, collected automatically to keep the platform secure and to improve it.
  • Sign-in data: if you use “Continue with Google,” we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google as permitted by your Google account settings.

3. Profiles Created on Behalf of Someone Else

DivineBond allows a parent, sibling, or other relative to create and manage a profile on behalf of a prospective match (for example, a parent setting up a profile for their adult child). If you create a profile for someone else, you confirm that you have their permission to do so and to share their personal information with us for this purpose, and that they are an adult capable of entering into marriage. The person the profile is about has the same rights over that data described in Section 8 below, and may contact us directly to exercise them.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and profile.
  • To verify your identity and help prevent fake profiles and fraud.
  • To generate match suggestions based on your preferences and profile information.
  • To enable messaging between mutually interested members.
  • To process subscription payments, send receipts, and manage your billing.
  • To send you service-related emails, such as OTP verification codes, match notifications, and subscription/trial reminders.
  • To monitor for abuse, harassment, and policy violations, and to act on reports and blocks submitted by members.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Other members, to a limited extent — your profile information and photos are visible to other members as part of the matching experience, according to the privacy settings you choose. Your NIC number, contact details, and payment information are never shown to other members.
  • Service providers who help us operate the platform, including our payment gateway (to process subscription payments), our email delivery provider (to send OTPs and notifications), our cloud hosting and storage providers (to store profile photos and application data securely), and Google (for sign-in). These providers may only use your data to perform services for us.
  • Legal and safety purposes — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of DivineBond, our members, or the public.
  • Business transfers — if DivineBond is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your profile and messages within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as payment records) for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS) and of sensitive fields such as private messages.
  • Password hashing — we never store your password in plain text.
  • Access controls restricting who on our team can view sensitive data such as NIC documents.
  • Rate limiting and IP-based protections against automated abuse.

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access and download a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing, such as marketing emails, at any time.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

You can update most profile information directly within your account settings, or contact us using the details in Section 12 to exercise any of these rights.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect your session, and limited analytics to understand how members use the Service so we can improve it. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.

10. Children's Privacy

DivineBond is a matrimonial platform intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or be the subject of a profile created by a family member. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete that information promptly.

11. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers (such as cloud hosting and email delivery) may process data outside the country you live in. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection consistent with this Policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice, such as an email or an in-app notice.
